Galileo International, Swindon
The European headquarters of Galileo International, a leading global travel technology and distribution company, chose an air conditioning system from Space Air. The Daikin D-BACS system was chosen because it allows accurate control of the entire system despite the fact that the Building Services Manager is situated in a separate building some 50m from the rest of the air conditioning equipment.
The installation affected two floors totalling some 3,500 sq.m of office area. Representatives from Galileo attended a presentation at Space Air to gain a thorough understanding of the options available. 23 outdoor and 81 indoor Daikin VRV inverter and heat recovery systems were specified because of the substantial savings offered over alternative water based systems, in terms of capital cost, running cost and progress disturbance to an occupied building.
Through the sensitive (monitoring) controls of the D-BACS management system it is possible to monitor energy consumption extremely closely, identifying the energy use of individual areas if required. Further more due to the size of the building, plus the fact that the Facility manager was in a remote building, the DBACS provided instant analysis and trouble shooting facility without the need to walk to the problem area.
The project was completed on time and within budget. The parties to the project liaised closely throughout all stages ensuring the end-user received a system that was capable of providing the control and conditioned air required.
