Joint first for Adcock and Space Air
Adcock Refrigeration of Norwich has installed the UK's first Daikin water-cooled VRV-WII system. Space Airconditioning plc supplied and commissioned the single module, 10hp system serving the administration block of the impressive Castle Mall Shopping Centre in Norwich . Whilst the system was the first of its type to be installed in the UK , Daikin's water cooled inverter "M" series VRV-WII is well established in other parts of the world and has been particularly successful in this type of application as well as in high rise buildings.
Adrian Bonfield of Adcock Refrigeration commented; "the project went without any hitches, however we were grateful to Space Air's after-sales engineers who made courtesy site visits to offer us technical support with this relatively new product."
Taking advantage of the building's existing central-plant water loop, the compact and lightweight heat pump condensing unit was installed in the roof void. The ducted fan coil units also being mounted in the roof void enabled the VRV-WII project to be completed with the minimum of disruption to staff and shoppers alike.
The VRV-WII is available in 3 capacity models of 10, 20 or 30hp and can be connected to a maximum of 16, 20 and 32 indoor fan coil units respectively. The system operates on R410A refrigerant and boasts the industry's highest coefficient of performance in heating at 5.21 COP and 4.53 COP in cooling.
It has already been qualified on the Carbon Trust's "Energy Technologies List" and is eligible for the full benefits of the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme.
