Graeme Thorn retires after 49 Years
At the age of 66, Space Air's Graeme Thorn has decided to fully retire in order to spend more quality time with his wife and family.
Born in December 1943, Graeme served a five-year apprenticeship with Brightside Heating and Engineering Ltd., where he remained for a total of 9 years. Graeme is probably best known in the air conditioning industry for the many years he was involved with the giant Carrier Corporation. He joined the Wembley based Carrier Distributors - Weathermaker Equipment Ltd., in 1979 as a sales engineer. He rapidly progressed to a sales management role.
In 1985 Carrier purchased its independent UK Distributors, Weathermaker and DES and formed Carrier Distribution Ltd. Over time the company name was changed in a series of re-engineering processes, each change brought Graeme new promotion and responsibilities. He rose from Territory Sales Manager to Regional Sales Manager and then to Associate Director. In his final years with Carrier Air Conditioning he was Associate Director with National responsibility for the Dealer network and National Accounts.
Graeme joined the Guildford based Daikin Distributor - Space Airconditioning plc in 2003. He had, by choice, reduced his working week to 3 days, however this was sufficient to maintain many of his long-standing customers and he was able to prove that he still had what it took to generate impressive sales figures. In fact he produced top monthly sales results for Space Air on many occasions.
Commenting on Graeme's retirement, Space Air's Managing Director, Neil Afram said, "Graeme was an inspiration to all sales staff at Space Air, not only in results he achieved but the ethics and communication skills that he displayed. He has a passion for the industry and this led to the respect that he attained. All the staff and I will miss him, as will the customers who Graeme dealt with over many years".
Neil concluded, "I am sure that all who have known Graeme would join me in wishing him a long and happy retirement".
